A Scranton native is bringing a bit of magic to the national stage. Denny Corby will be on Penn and Teller: Fool Us later this month.
You won't be seeing a magic wand or hearing any abracadabra during his act, HE'll probably still have you saying, "how'd he do that?"
"My approach to magic is I'm very big on the comedy side of it," said Corby. "My show is part improv, part stand-up comedy, and then part magic."
Born and raised in Scranton, Denny Corby has made a name for himself in the magic world.
And this month he's performing for a nationwide audience on Penn and Teller: Fool Us.
"You almost can't be nervous," said Corby. "Like you are, but you aren't. And then once they say 'go,' you have to jump right into it. So definitely a unique experience."
A chance to show his childhood icons what he's got.
"It was amazing," he said. "You just see them as a kid and then all of a sudden you're on their stage, performing on their TV show. It's kind of bonkers."
Like the name implies, magicians go on and try to fool Penn and Teller. If the duo can't figure the trick out, the performer gets to appear as their opening act in Las Vegas.
He's already filmed the show, but he can't give away if he fooled Penn and Teller.
You can watch how he does on the Fool Us season finale September 30th. It airs Mondays at 8 pm on the CW38.
Corby says he'll be holding a viewing party for his episode in Scranton on the 30th.
